What is Coaching?

Your Coach guides and supports your progress towards defining and achieving a clear and exciting future goal. Goals can cover any number of areas of your life, from a significant change in your life, achieving career progress, dealing with the breakdown of a relationships, creating a good work/life balance, overcoming low self-esteem, weight loss and self-image.   For some they may have a specific negative emotional challenge which is holding them back in some way in their lives, such as  overcoming anxiety, a phobia or maybe the fear of social settings or public speaking. Your coach supports you to first identify what they really want to achieve, either personally or professionally, and then provides specific support and guidance to help you achieve your specific goals. The coach helps to keep you focused, and on track, and aids you  in overcoming any challenges and obstacles in your way.

 

How does it work?

Coaching is a one-to-one relationship between you and the coach. Regular sessions are mutually agreed, either face to face, or over the telephone, with a plan for each session,  Weekly tasks will be agreed between you and the coach, and e-mail support between sessions is available if required. Normally a coaching relationship will last between 4 and 12 weekly sessions, but clients will begin to enjoy the benefits from the very first session. The coaching relationship lasts only as long as the coach is needed, with the overall aim to help you become skilled enough to achieve the change you want for you.


Our Coaching Methods                              

Our coaching methodology uses Nuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which has been used to help people for over 50 years.  It can best  be describes as ‘an instruction manual for the mind’. It allows you to understand the processes (or programs) that you run in your neurology and make changes to anything that isn’t working very well.

The first thing to realise is that all our behaviours are run by our unconscious mind. This is the super computer that stores all your memories (not just the ones that you can remember consciously), it runs your body and rebuilds the cells and adjusts all the hormones and chemical levels within it, operates your heart and your breathing - it is an amazing piece of equipment at your disposal!  

Your conscious mind is your analytical conscious mind and, without being too irreverent, it is like an old lap top in comparison to your super computer!  So your behaviours are run by your unconscious mind and are the result of a bunch of filters that distort and delete and generalise your day to day experiences in relation to what has come before.

 In conventional coaching the coach essentially deals with the CONSCIOUS mind of the individual who is being coached. Much talking is involved and the coach tries to assist them going forward using fancy 'models' that are aimed at the conscious mind of the individual.
